For my "Illustration 3" class we have to do an editorial illustration (an illustration that demonstrates an opinion) based on an article we read. You have to use the same title that the article had too, hence the rather long one I needed to fit in. The article that I read was about how child beauty pageants are unhealthy and negative for children. I agree with this. In fact, I feel like the words "Child beauty pageant" are ironic
1. The children no longer look like children *example: [link]
2. They aren't about children so much as they are about the parents and winning money
All this focus on superficiality and competing based on appearance, AND sexing up, is a very negative form of attention for young children. I think some competition in sports, music, or other activities can be ok, provided they aren't taken to the extreme (Aka, soccer moms etc) but even in the worst case scenarios with those, at least the child is learning a talent and not learning that only the outside counts..In doing research on these child beauty pageants, I was strongly reminded of dog shows.
Playing dress-up and trying on makeup is a normal thing.
Parading a kid around looking like this is not ok: [link]
good god, what kind of mother would do that? really if your gonna actrly do that do it to a doll, not a child.
Parents should teach their children that beauity is within and that you can only be the best that you can be,not say ''Be PERFACT! like Babrie, because she perfact and loved and if your not perfact you wont be loved and be happy!? UNDERSTAND SWEETIE?!''
Like that mom obsessed with TANNING XD Let us pray her daughter never subjects her own skin to this kind of ultraviolet light damage, and potential for cancer.
I compleatly agree it's terrible when parents try to re-live youth though their kids especially when once the kid comes out they don't look like a kid insted they look like a short striper.
